£1 bingo card turns into £20,000 for one lucky Gala Bingo player
It’s not every day that a single pound purchase can turn into £20,000, but today was the day for one lucky Gala Bingo player from Clacton. The smashing £20,000 jackpot was originally thought by the winner, who preferred to remain unnamed, to amount to only £35. It was only after she’d been informed that a full-house had been achieved in less than 40 balls that the results began to sink in.
Stephen Archer, the caller to officiate the jackpot game, clarified for the player who, according to Deputy Manager Jean Taylor, had a “Meltdown” right there on the floor of the bingo hall.
The winner was delighted to say the least, and so was mum, with whom she plays at the hall every day. Mum was said to be cool as a cucumber while her daughter caused a fuss among staff and players. She was none worse for the wear, eventually regaining her composure.
According to the lucky winner, she’s getting married to her longtime partner and the money is going straight into planning the wedding scheduled for later this year.
Despite the excitement, the player insisted she’d keep on playing that same day, but after realizing she couldn’t even hold her dabber in hand, she retired after winning what was said by Taylor to be the largest prize won in two years since she’d taken over at the Clacton Gala Bingo hall.See Best Offers
